Growing up in the flood-prone region of Chalan Beel, Bangladesh, Mohammed Rezwan witnessed firsthand how seasonal monsoons disrupted education, leaving many children, especially girls, without access to schooling. Determined to find a solution, he pursued architecture and, in 1998, founded the non-profit organization Shidhulai Swanirvar Sangstha with just $500 from his personal savings and scholarship funds.
