Peter Chou, born Win Than on November 24, 1956, in Mandalay, Myanmar, is a member of the Burmese Chinese community. His father worked in Burma’s jade industry. Chou attended Mandalay Regional College before moving to Taiwan, where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan Ocean University in 1985. He later obtained an Executive MBA from National Chengchi University in 2003 and completed Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program in 2006. Chou began his career as a senior engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation before co-founding HTC in 1997.
